Cromer Crematorium’s gift to two community charities

Cromer Crematorium has given two community charities a huge helping hand by presenting each of them with a £1,500 cheque.

The donations were recently given to About With Friends and North Norfolk Community Transport.

The money was raised through Cromer Crematorium’s metal recycling scheme.

With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled, and any money raised is used to support charities and other worthy causes in the communities surrounding every crematorium and cemetery which are part of Westerleigh Group, as Cromer is.

Westerleigh Group is one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

About With Friends provides life skills and independence for adults and children with learning disabilities, enabling them to live the life they choose.

Chief Executive Officer Sam Hardwood said: “Through our social activity, work skills, supported living and bespoke programmes, we have seen many lives enhanced and this donation will only help further our members outcomes and achievements.”

Jane Bishop Executive Lead for North Norfolk Community Transport, said: “We have some great plans for this year to help even more people live fulfilling and independent lives, and this donation allows us to put these plans into action.”

Rodney Clark-Ward, Manager at Cromer Crematorium, said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to support two organisations which make such a positive difference to the lives of many people in our local communities.

“Like all crematoria in Westerleigh Group, we aim to provide a positive presence in our community and we feel a great sense of pride in being able to make donations like this, which we know are gratefully received and will be put to very good use.”
