Cromer Crematorium launches virtual tour

Cromer Crematorium in North Norfolk has launched a ‘virtual tour’ on its website for people who want to view its beautiful location and facilities but are unable to visit in person.

The ‘tour’ makes the most of modern technology to enable people to explore every corner of the site from the comfort of their own homes.

Cromer Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

The virtual tour of Cromer Crematorium, which opened in January 2017, provides a comprehensive view of the chapel, inside and outside, as well as grounds and some superb aerial visuals too.

The footage from inside the chapel will help viewers explore excellent facilities available at the crematorium and help familiarise themselves with the chapel layout prior to attending the service.

Externally, the virtual tour takes a viewer to a number of crematorium’s focal points, such as floral tribute area, garden of remembrance, the grounds in general, the ash scattering area, the access to the site, car parking facilities as well as the Covid-19 memorial which was installed last summer.

Rodney Clark-Ward, site manager of Cromer Crematorium, said: “The idea of the virtual tour is to help anyone who wishes to see our beautiful grounds but is unable to visit our site.

“This could be because the burden of their grief is too large, or they have mobility issues, health conditions or they do not live locally.

“The pandemic had such an impact on so many aspects of our lives but on the other hand, here at Cromer Crematorium it inspired us to create a virtual tour and provide assistance to anyone who is unable to come to visit our site in person in the future.

“The virtual tour provides an excellent opportunity and access to explore our site without having to travel to us in person.

“Of course, our team will continue to be available to show anyone around our beautiful grounds in person, but if this is not an option for that person, we hope that the virtual tour will help assist in providing an opportunity to view our site, get familiar with its layout and facilities and, if required, provide additional reassurance of our high standards of care.”

Anyone who wants to see the virtual tour can access it by visiting the crematorium’s website.
