Latest Covid-19 guidelines (21st December 2021)

To protect the safety and wellbeing of the bereaved, our teams and funeral director colleagues, we are closely monitoring government guidelines in England and continuing to maintain practices to ensure everyone’s safety:

  • Unless exempt, everyone is required by law to wear a face covering whilst inside the crematorium.
  • We continue to encourage the use of hand sanitiser in and around our buildings.
  • We continue to ensure that where possible, we have doors and windows open to allow for good airflow throughout our buildings.
  • There is no maximum cap on the number of attendees at funeral services, however we must endeavour to avoid any crowding, and therefore will not exceed a comfortable number of mourners within the chapel.
  • We ensure that regular cleaning is undertaken in between services to multi-touch points (e.g., door handles, lecterns, catafalques, backs of pews)
  • We carry out a deep clean of the chapel at the end of every working day so that our chapels are ready for the following day.
  • We continue to offer the use of the NHS Track and Trace posters to enable all visitors to ‘check-in’ at our premises, however, this is not a legal requirement for people to use it.
  • Singing is allowed in our chapels, although mourners should leave face coverings on.
  • We offer the witness charging of coffins as normal (face coverings must be worn)
  • We allow for curtains to remain open and for mourners to walk up to the coffin to touch/place flowers.
  • We welcome donations and collections to be carried out by the Funeral Directors using their own donation boxes or encourage families to make use of online charitable giving sites.
  • We continue to offer web casting facilities at a discounted rate and encourage remote attendance to services.

Additionally, in line with government guidelines:

  • Mourners are asked to take lateral flow test before attending a funeral and self-isolate straight away if they tested positive.

  • Mourners traveling from abroad are asked to follow Covid-19 international travel requirements.

Memorials update – 28 July 2021

Due to events beyond our control resulting from significantly delayed shipments from overseas, memorial orders are currently being received later than expected. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are endeavouring to limit any disruption to a minimum.

If you are considering purchasing a memorial, we encourage you to place your order at the earliest opportunity to ensure its installation as early as possible.

Thank you for your understanding. If you have any enquiries, please contact the Crematorium Office.

Welcome to Cromer Crematorium

Cromer crematorium opened in January 2017 after years of careful planning to finally provide a local service for the communities of North Norfolk. Set within the grounds of the town’s cemetery, the building has been sympathetically designed to blend in with the surrounding woodland with the use of local flint stone and natural materials throughout.

Quiet and secluded, it provides a beautiful, tranquil setting to hold the funeral of your choice.
